Analyze My Spine is published by the independent team that also makes JointLens, the umbrella product for our imaging work. We are not a spine clinic, not a surgical practice and not a referral service, and nothing here is sponsored by one. Because back pain attracts an enormous amount of anonymous advice, we think a site that reads your lumbar MRI should start by telling you whose site it is.
What the tool reads on a spine study
Lumbar, cervical and thoracic MRI, CT and plain films load directly in the browser, from single files or a whole disc export. You move through sagittal and axial series yourself, then pick the images worth explaining. The answer that comes back stays in ordinary language: disc height and hydration level by level, whether disc material extends beyond the vertebral margin and how far, how much room is left in the central canal and the lateral recesses, whether facet joints look enlarged and arthritic, vertebral body height and alignment, and marrow signal changes along the endplates.
Why an image alone explains very little here
The spine is the region where imaging findings and symptoms agree least. Disc bulges, annular fissures and facet arthrosis are common in people with no pain at all, and a dramatic-sounding report frequently describes an ordinary, ageing back. Which nerve root is genuinely irritated is decided by where your symptoms are, how they behave, and what a neurological examination shows — sometimes with electrodiagnostic testing — never by a paragraph generated from a picture. This tool also performs no measurement suitable for deciding on surgery, and it cannot see instability, which requires flexion and extension views.
Red flags this tool must never be trusted with
Loss of bladder or bowel control, numbness around the groin and inner thighs, rapidly progressing leg weakness, unexplained weight loss or fever with back pain, or back pain after major trauma are emergencies. Stop reading and get assessed — a generated explanation has no way to recognise how urgent your situation is. Consent to the informational-only framing is required before the analyzer will run, every output repeats it, and the Medical Disclaimer sets out the rest.
Client-side by construction
Spine studies are large, and they stay where they are: all unpacking, header reading and rendering is performed by code in your own browser, so the series never travels to us. An analysis request carries the frames you picked and the sentences you wrote, and nothing more; the server relays them and retains no study. There is no database of patient imaging on our side to be breached or subpoenaed, and the Privacy Policy documents each step of that path.
